Bucharest Otopeni Airport
   Henri Coanda International Airport is the largest and most important airport in Romania and it is located outside the urban area of the capital Bucharest in Otopeni city, Ilfov county. The airport served as a military base for Hitler\\\'s Third Reich and after the world war was started the construction of a new commercial airport. Modernization consisted in arranging an aircraft track with 3,500 m length and a new passenger terminal construction for both external and internal flights .
In 1960 it began a termial for celebrities, the reason was the visit of U.S.A. President Richard Nixon in 1960, and a new aircraft track the same length like the firs, the processing capacity of arriving aircraft increased to 35-40 aircraft per hour. The airport became a member of the International Airport Council in 1992 and now, the international airport is one of the most modern in Eastern Europe and is in continuous development, significantly increasing the number of transit.

     The airport consists of two terminals, one for arrivals and one for departures, between 1999-2007 started the second half of modern development of the airport, body building for arrivals reconfiguration, modernization of the control tower and the expansion of parking.
Capacity has increased considerably, if in 2005 there were approximately 3 million passengers in 2012 is expected a double transit.Strategic development plan involves a number of 4 modern terminals development until 2022.


     The airport is situated at a distance about 20 km from Bucharest and is accessible on the highway Bucharest-Ploiesti, with bus R.A.T.B. lines 780 and 783 urban transport and railway Express line linking North Station through the airport.There is a project that the airport will be linked suburban by Metrorex subwayand it will be completed in 2018.
